Nancy Birnes is not only a wonderful person, she's one heck of an author in her own right. This book covers a tale of her own personal life with her first husband and It's a touching story told by the wife of a war hero. The year is 1968 Nancy who was a reporter also recently became a mother, and the wife of a soldier fighting in the Vietnam War takes as back by putting together a series of articles which were syndicated in newspapers and magazines reproduced exactly how it was, but with an added update and lots of old color photos from her family shoebox. The book never drags, and is a great read. Especially for those of you like Nancy who experienced being "the waiting wife."This was one of the worst times in Americas history both due to it being a war this country shouldn't have ever been in to one we lost. Not only did we lose the war but also lost a lot of good people from both sides to a senseless war. So to read this book it really did take me to a place I was far to young to experience first hand. I'd like to thank Nancy Birnes for writing this book.
